Erg 23

The erg is my master, I shall not want.
It maketh me to lay down my meters,
It leadeth me to hydrate proactively,
and restoreth my soul.
It leads me in paths of righteousness
for Its name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of unfitness,
I fear no evil; for the erg is with me;
Your handle and Your wheel, they comfort me.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the ways of the erg,
forever. Amen.

(with apologies to Psalm 23)

Concept 2 January Virtual Team Challenge

Barak has dragged a number of members of the club (and some not-members as well) into this virtual rowing competition at the Concept 2 Website.

The competition is a good stimulus for training and conditioning and pushing yourself as well as keeping rowing in your mind in the dead of a northern Ohio winter.

The idea is to build your aerobic base early in the season, and then work up to sprints and interval training to build your speed and anaerobic tolerance as you get closer to sprint racing in the spring. We'll see if it works.

USRowing Level 2 Coaching Certification

Course led at the Cleveland Rowing Foundation by Adrian Spracklin, head coach of Mercyhurst College men's rowing team. Always gets me fired up to talk about training schedules for college athletics, and makes me wonder what I might have accomplished if I stuck with college rowing beyond the spring of my Freshman year.
